Music - Online - Isle of The Dead

  • Recorded on 30 October 2005
  • Released on 21 January 2008

The story of this track is one of triumph and disapointment. For many years I've been seeking after the holy grail of ambient music, an (even rough) approximation of Brain Eno's work on Apollo and his music for Dune. I like to think that with this track I actually achieved that, and then promptly forgot all the synth settings that I used to realise it.

The title is a reference to my favourite series of paintings by Arnold Bocklin.

The illustration is of the old pier at Brighton, described so aptly in the TV series Sugar Rush as "the wreck of loneliness"
