Web Design

Keeping it Simple

I build sites with a philosophy of "Keep it Simple!" I understand that the purpose of your web site is to inform people about your products & services, & not to show off the skills of the designer.

I try to design sites that are well laid out & easy to read, no matter what monitor size or screen resolution your customer's computers may have. The "navigation" controls are simple, legible, & clear. A little animation can spice a page up, but little dancing penguins on every page is simply "bad for the eyes!"

I accept that a site loaded down with all the latest gadgets & gizmos is a very impressive sight, but at the same time I can't help but wonder about all of those potential customers out there who do not have all the latest proprietary software on their computers, who are therefore incapable of viewing such a site.

Low prices

Any information supplied on this page is meant as a guide only, and does not constitute a contract. Before undertaking any job, Andy will provide you with a quote based on your particular needs.

  • To initially set up a site, costs on average £40 per page (for the standard small business, 5-page site this comes to about £200)
Page sizes can vary, as does the amount of graphics on a page, both these factors can raise or lower this price.
  • Addition of new pages is charged at the same rate.
  • Minor updates (e.g. address changes, price changes, etc), cost on average only £20.

Hosting / Domain Names

I don't provide you with a host or a domain name for your web-site. If you do not currently have an internet service provider who can provide these, I would like to recommend Get Dotted and Freeola who not only provide an excellent web-server that will enable me to produce high-quality dynamic content (if you should require it), but also provide broadband / dial-up services and E. mail.

Search Engines

There's a lot of hype about linking your site to as many search engines as possible, In my experience, I've found the only one that really matters is Google. Adding your new site to Google's database, is included in the price of the initial site set-up.

I'm sorry, but it is not possible for me to add your site to the "Ask Jeeves" search engine, as this requires you to open an account with them to regularly pay your fees for listing.
