Interactive Content

This can be a very weak area in many web-sites: interactive elements can be "fiddly" and unnecessarily complicated, users can find them selves having to re-enter information as a result of making simple mistakes, people can find themselves needing to install all manner of additional software on their computers before being able to see certain elements, the list goes on.

As with simpler static sites, I always seek to keep unnecessary clutter to a minimum, and my "Intelligent Form Handling" is designed to try to make the user's experience of the site as simple and straightforward as possible, whilst keeping as much of the complexity as possible on the web server - avoiding compatibility issues with the users own computer.

There's a simple example of this sort of thing in action at Mindtech Associates where I've built an online stress test.

E. Commerce

Designed to be easy to use, with a simple to understand layout, and employing well-proven & efficient technologies. Put all this together and you've got an E. commerce site you can rely on.

Again there's a nice example of this in action at Mindtech Associates which contains a shopping basket application.

Market Research

Online questionaires designed to be as easy to fill in as possible, data stored securely on the web server, and made available for later analysis from a password protected "private" web-page can be a most effective way of carrying out research.

The data gathered can be downloaded in a variety of formats for later analysis, or a variety of analysis tools can be made available as part of the protected parts of the web-site.

Sorry, but due to the ephemeral nature of most of the research projects I've been engaged in, it's not really possible to provide links to examples.

Dynamic Content for Sites Maintained by Third Parties

I can provide sophisticated custom website backends for web design businesses' client sites.

I can provide the programming expertise that your design department might be lacking, enabling them to fully focus on their design work. But liasing with them closely to ensure that our "two sides of the coin" integrate seamlessly when the site is deployed.

Typical application areas (as well as those listed above):

  • Online catalogues
  • Email response and notification
  • Database access and update

The costs involved are very realistic allowing you plenty of margin when you charge on to your clients. Typically a client's catalogue of several hundred items can be put onto his web site with search facilities, a facility to request a quotation or brochures and a database administration facility for around £1000.

N.B. As with all third-party consultancy contacts, I will only ever talk directly to your client under very exceptional circumstances, and then only with your express agreement.
